This pattern takes the idea of color blending from the Cottage Garden design and breaks it down into repeats.
I was looking for an undulating effect that would be reminiscent of a babbling brook. The first time I wove this rug it was a literal translation in blues with a light accent.
Later, I found that this pattern was lovely in many color combinations and it is such a versatile pattern that I have used it as a foundation for room sized rugs. This pattern has come through a long evolution and hardly resembles it's humble beginning. There are still many possibilities in the future for Stonybrook and I look forward to developing them. I always enjoy weaving this one.
